Re-Informed Toby G
Toby G- In this video we talk to Toby Gorniak, founder of Street Factory, the award-winning hip hop community interest company that helps young people, artists and practitioners grow and seize their potential. Street Factory are the creators of Roots Up, a pioneering mass street dance event taking place next year involving people across Plymouth that will be a bold and contemporary retelling and reinterpretation of the Mayflower story. This short interview with Toby - better known as Toby G - is the first of the Re-informed series, where artists and producers give an insight to their work and how it explores the Mayflower story, without shying away from its challenging history. Toby explains why Street Factory are involved in the commemoration, the power of Roots Up and how his personal journey across Europe, arriving in Plymouth as a refugee and creating a new life to being awarded with a MBE, has modern-day parallels with the experiences of the people connected to the Mayflower story. He speaks emotively of how he sees the Mayflower anniversary as an opportunity to learn from the past and spread positivity, to welcome people of all backgrounds with love and look to the future with hope. Toby also explores how the work Street Factory does with people from all walks of life inspires the very same aspirations.
The Four New England Seasons
The Four Seasons of New England are known for their dramatic shifts, stunning imagery and harsh conditions. The summers can be brutally hot just as the cold can overtake even the strongest of people. Spring and summer offer beauty all their own and artist Dan Lueer brings it all together in this remarkable montage of images, music and feeling.

The Mayflower Part 1
Mayflower Part 1- The first of our new My Mayflower series brings to life the people connected to the remarkable story of Mayflower II. We tell the stories of those involved in building the ship after World War II, the memories of those who sailed it across the Atlantic and thoughts of those recently involved in the Mayflower II restoration. The Mayflower II is a ship that represents far more than an extraordinary crossing of the Atlantic. It symbolizes the special relationship between the UK and the United States. The ship left its Devon harbour for Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1957. Today the recently restored Mayflower II still epitomizes that voyage of hope and endeavor. This film would not be possible without: Audio interviews by Jo Loosemore, BBC Radio Devon Original footage from Peter Padfield, author of Mayflower II Diary: Sketches of a Lost Age, available from Casa Forte Publishing Video copyright Peter Padfield. Reproduction strictly by request only Footage from Plimoth Plantation and Mystic River Seaport Museum BBC South West Original sketches and image of crew from The Box, Plymouth Funding from Arts Council England Images of Warwick Charlton, courtesy of Randal Charlton, author of the Wicked Pilgrim thewickedpilgrim.com
Pilgrim Woman
Pilgrim Women- The second in the My Mayflower series follows the story of Rachel Carter and the creation of the Pilgrim Woman. Rachel’s story brings together different cultures on both sides of the Atlantic in a true commemoration of their shared history, while shining a light on the often untold role of women in the Mayflower story through the making of her Pilgrim Woman sculpture. Rachel is a textile artist who can trace her ancestors back to the very places many of the leading Pilgrims hailed from in England before they planned their voyage on the Mayflower. She ‘recreated’ that very journey aboard a modern cargo vessel to work with local people in Provincetown, meeting a member of the Wampanoag tribe as she learned of their ancient weaving techniques, finding vital inspiration to create the ’Pilgrim Woman’. Upon her return, she worked with 50 women in places like Gainsborough and Retford in the heart of the ‘Pilgrim Roots’ region, eventually becoming the ‘Pilgrim Woman’ herself - before using highly advanced technology to create the final sculpture that will live in the village of Austerfield - the birthplace of William Bradford himself. You can read more about Rachel's work and listen to her podcast rachelcarter.co.uk

You need to provide the time to experience this wonderful sight!
Turnchaple Through The Ages
This film celebrates 400 years of Turnchapel history. The film has been funded by the Mayflower 400 Community Sparks Fund. All aspects of the production and editing were completed by local residents and includes drone footage of the area, recollections of locals and the voices of local children to depict key historic events. The film takes us on a journey from 1620 to 2020, showing how quarrying, maritime industries, transport and war have all played their part in the development of Turnchapel.

Virtual Voyages- Dorking
In this week’s Virtual Voyage we explore 17th century Dorking, the picturesque Surrey town once home to the shoemaker William Mullins and his family. Six people from Dorking travelled on the Mayflower headed by businessman William - who brought with him 250 shoes and 13 pairs of boots. His teenage daughter Priscilla was also on board, and her later marriage to the ship’s Cooper John Alden - despite the overtures of soldier Myles Standish - and their children mean millions of Americans can trace their lineage to this family and pretty English town. We’ll visit the original home of the Mullins family in Dorking, thought to be the only surviving home of a Mayflower passenger in England.

Re- Informed Still Moving
In our latest Re-informed interview we speak to the team behind Speedwell, the stunning light installation on Plymouth's Mount Batten Breakwater. The project's creators are local art collective Still/Moving, a community interest company who were inspired by the events of 1620, when passengers on board the Mayflower set sail to settle in what they called the 'New World', a world already home to indigenous people. Speedwell, the companion ship intended to sail alongside the Mayflower, was unable to make the journey across the Atlantic. Some of its passengers were therefore forced to return to England and find ways to make peace with the place they sought to escape. Artists Laura Hopes, Martin Hampton and Léonie Hampton explain how their response is 'Speedwell' - and how it asks visitors to imagine new worlds of living, caring and dying well together and invites visitors to add their own voices in response.-
Speedwell Revisited
Speedwell -We return to Speedwell, the large-scale art installation that has transformed the Mount Batten Breakwater in Plymouth, for our latest Re-informed video. The artists who created the installation respond to some of the public’s thoughts and feedback to the artwork and we speak to the team of volunteer Mayflower Makers who have been canvassing public opinion - as well as getting their thoughts on what Speedwell represents. The installation was created by local collective Still/Moving who have been collecting messages provoked by Speedwell and recording them on tags tied to the artwork. They show us some of the messages received so far and explain how you can leave yours. Measuring 63m long and 6m high, 'Speedwell' uses illuminated signage comprising 3,723 LED lights to invite viewers to ask complex questions about themselves, the damaged planet and the legacy of the pivotal journeys made by the Mayflower and its companion ship the Speedwell.
Wampum Stories- The Shells of Native America
Wampum belts are the closest thing to written history for Wampanoag people - and the creation of a new belt is the focus of our next short film. Nearly four centuries ago, the breakdown of the alliance between the Wampanoag and the settlers from the Mayflower was almost inevitable. Once the Europeans’ new need was to expand their land for their cattle and their farms, it required them to further encroach on the land of the Wampanoag. This in turn led to a number of conflicts and, ultimately, King Philip’s War in 1676. Following a bloody battle that claimed the lives of thousands, Wampanoag leader Metacom was killed and his prized wampum belt seized. Church subsequently turned the belt over to the Governor of Plymouth Colony, Josiah Winslow, who had written a war report and was planning to deliver spoils of war back to the King of England. Winslow handed them to his brother-in-law, Waldegrave Pelham, who then took the belt across to England where it’s unclear what happened after that. All that is known, is that it was never delivered to the King… Now, to mark 400 years of shared history between nations, Wampanoag artists and scholars have created a new wampum belt in partnership with The Box Plymouth, that will tour the UK in a project of huge cultural significance. Titled ‘Wampum: Stories from the Shells of Native America’, the exciting new exhibition will tell the story of the Wampanoag and the making of this new belt. Our next short film tells the story of this remarkable project with echos of centuries of Native American history. You’ll hear from Dr Kathryn Gray, Associate Professor (Reader) in Early American Literature at the University of Plymouth, and Jo Loosemoore, curator of Mayflower 400: Legend and Legacy for The Box Plymouth, as well as Paula Peters from SmokeSygnals.
Virtual Voyages- South Hampton
South Hampton-The Mayflower arrived in Southampton in late July 1620 and several days later was joined by the Speedwell, carrying the Pilgrims from Leiden. Their intention was to prepare both vessels and sail in company directly to America. Weeks later, on 15 August, the two ships weighed anchor and set sail - but only one of them would complete the transatlantic journey... Our short film will explore some of the places the Mayflower passengers and crew would have visited in the city before they set sail - including God's House Tower and the West Gate. Presented by Blue Badge guide Julia Morris and historian Dr Cheryl Butler, it will also look at some of the fascinating stories of the people who came from the city and played a crucial role in the Mayflower voyage and beyond. It finishes with a special insight into a new exhibition opening this weekend at the SeaCity Museum in Southampton - Wampum: Stories from the Shells of Native America. This exhibition tells the story of the Wampanoag Nation, changed forever by the arrival of colonists on the Mayflower and showcases a new Wampum Belt, of huge spiritual and historical significance.
Virtual Voyages-Yachtsman Conrad Humphreys
Four hundred years ago today the Mayflower would have been a month into its 66-day voyage across the Atlantic, in what became a treacherous crossing lashed with storms. In this week’s Virtual Voyage, we speak to triple round-the-world yachtsman Conrad Humphreys about what the journey would have been like for the crew and the Mayflower's passengers. Conrad, who is based in the city of Plymouth, takes us into Plymouth Sound - the waters the colonists would have sailed before the perilous journey, to give us an insight into the conditions, the tools the skipper would have used and what the boat itself would have been like. The international yachtsman - only the fifth British yachtsman in history to complete the legendary Vendee Globe, sailing single-handed around the world - tells us what may have gone through the mind of the Mayflower's skipper Christopher Jones before taking on a voyage like no other.

Irwin: A New York Story- Directed by Dan Makara, this documentary takes you into the amazing career of Irwin Donenfeld. Irwin was a dominant figure in the NY boxing scene as well as a founding animator/cartoonist at the world famous DC Comics.
Little Fiel
Little Fiel is a short documentary with stop motion animation about unending wars and ubiquitous guns. It is loosely based on the life story of Mozambican artist Fiel dos Santos – a man who is the only one in his family to never have shot a gun and who makes art of decommissioned guns donated by the public in exchange for food and tools. Fiel dos Santos grew up during the 16 year old civil war – another proxy war equipped and sustained by conflicting foreign powers. Fiel created eight figures representing his father, mother, five brothers and sister from decommissioned AK47s and M16s. Three New York artists turned them into puppets and animated. “Little Fiel†tells a universal story of peaceful people who have been coerced, conscripted and enticed into killing each other. It is collective act of resistance and hope.
The Light of Fire
The Light of Fire- A touching and up-close thirty minute film that tells the story of Yoram Raanan, an American-Israeli artist, as he rebuilds from a sudden fire that destroyed forty years of work. It's a story about resolve in the face of loss, but also about faith, family and searching for a sense of place.
A Day With Barkley Hendricks
A Day With Barkley Hendricks- Barkley Hendricks is considered one of the great painters of the mid-to-late 20th century. This film follows the artist around for two days with one of his biggest fans behind the lens. This is a very unique opportunity to see the insight of an artist as they work.

Over the 20-year course of his father’s disease, the film shares DiRado’s compassionate and emotional black-and-white photographs.

Summer Spent
Summer Spent- Part historical record of the landscape of Martha's Vineyard, part portrait of one artist’s work, ‘Summer Spent’ gives the viewer a front row seat to the process of making art. Witness Stephen DiRado’s relentless pursuit of capturing the environment and the people of Aquinnah, MA.
Double Take: The Art of Elizabeth King
Double Take: The Art of Elizabeth King engages the viewer in the work of sculptor and stop-action filmmaker Elizabeth King, who embarks on each new project by posing a single question to herself: “Can this be physically done?†Tracing King’s creative flow, curiosity and obsessive drive to solve the inevitable series of artistic and technical problems that arise in creating her disconcerting sculptures and animations, this documentary film explores King’s passion about the mind/body riddle, the science of emotion, the human/machine interface, and those things a robot will never be able to do. From studio to exhibition, and in conversations with fellow artists, curators and critics, the film asks what looking at and seeing one another means in an increasingly mediated world.
The Collector
The Collector explores the 46-year career of Allan Stone, the famed New York City gallery owner and art collector. Producer and director Olympia Stone reveals her father’s compulsive collecting genius while telling the parallel story of his lifelong journey through the art world from the 1950s to 2006. Viewers are taken on an extraordinary path inside one man’s obsessive submersion in art and its influence on the artists, art dealers and family members with whom he worked and lived. “To say that the house is full is perhaps an understatement: as the camera pans from wall to wall, from ceiling to floor, it stops at paintings by Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Barnett Newman and Wayne Thiebaud; sculptures by César, Arman, John Chamberlain, James Grashow and David Beck; a tribe of African fetish pieces. The only bare spots are the paths that link the endless rooms, like trails hacked through a nearly impenetrable jungle.†– KATHRYN SHATTUCK, The New York Times, February 10, 2007
The Cardboard Berini
The Cardboard Bernini examines the work and life of artist James Grashow as he builds a giant cardboard fountain inspired by the work of the famous baroque sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. James Grashow is an artist who has built—among many other things—giant 15 foot tall fighting men, a city and an ocean using paper mache, fabric, chicken wire and cardboard. More recently, he has begun making sculptures entirely out of corrugated cardboard and twist ties. Several years ago, while visiting the home of his art dealer, Allan Stone, he stumbled across some of his giant fighting men that had been put outside due to lack of space. They were disintegrating. Although it was deeply painful and shocking for him to see his work like that, it was also surprisingly beautiful. He felt that he was seeing the full arc of his artistic enterprise before him—including its end. So, Grashow challenged himself to embrace the “backend†of his process, and decided to build a giant cardboard fountain—a Grashow “Bernini.†From its conception, he intended this work to be put outside to disintegrate. Work on the fountain began in 2007 and was completed in 2010. This film documents this process from the start to finish. Grashow’s “corrugated fountain†premiered indoors on June 11, 2010 at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, Virginia, to great acclaim. After shows in New York City and Pittsburgh, he finally installed the fountain outdoors at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, CT on April 1, 2012. It was there for a total of six weeks, after which time Grashow took his degraded cardboard masterpiece to the dumpster: “Ashes to ashes, mush to mush.†This film is an intimate glimpse of an artist at work on what he considers his “final epic.†We follow Grashow as he asks what is the point of art and creation? What is the connection between creation and destruction? And, ultimately, what is the point of our lives in the face of our mortality?
A Story In Stone
A Story In Stone- A Story In Stone presents a brief history of French Lithographer Fernand Mourlots' introduction of Stone Lithography to America, the process used by Picasso, Matisse, Chagall and Toulouse-Lautrec to reproduce some of master their work. Reed went on to establish Milestone Graphics in Bridgeport, Ct., where he's printed for local & nationally recognized artists.
Everything Forever
Everything Forever- Nenad Bach was a rock star in his native country, Croatia, but in1984 he made the decision to expatriate in order to follow his dream of finding a U.S. market for his music, in an industry dominated by youth and pop culture. He has never given up. Most importantly he remains committed to his work as a 'citizen of the world', a tireless antiwar activist, the driving passion which infuses his life and the music he creates. Everything is Forever delves deep into the soul of an artist, who to this day has unfinished business. Presented by: FilmFest 52
The Original
The multi-talented outsider artist Richard McMahan is on a quest to painstakingly re-create thousands of famous and not-so-famous paintings and artifacts in miniature. From well-loved Picasso and Frida Kahlo paintings to more obscure intricate Maori canoes, McMahan has mastered dozens of genres over 30 years of creating, and he's made most of it on a cluttered kitchen counter using recycled materials. McMahan is also the curator of a mini-museum with a collection that surveys the scope of humanity's visual record. Olympia Stone directs this surprising portrait of a most unusual artist.
Curious Worlds: The Are & Imagination of David Beck
Curious Worlds: The Art & Imagination of David Beck pulls back the curtain on the singular artist David Beck: a master sculptor, carver, and miniature architect who works in a fantastical genre all his own, creating intricate worlds that are alive with magical and brilliant observations. A largely undiscovered genius, David Beck is known to a select group of collectors and curators. During his early, formative years in New York City Beck lived on the edge of destitution. Eventually he found gallery representation and established a following of enthusiasts who snap up his work as soon as it comes out. His pieces have been shown at the MET, the Guggenheim, and some of the world’s most prominent galleries. His work, "MVSEVM" was commissioned by the Smithsonian American Art Museum, where it is on permanent display. To the larger public, though, he is virtually unknown. His intricate, kinetic sculptures might be objects from a dream – fanciful buildings and hollow animals containing detailed, often humorous, scenes that are rendered on a tiny scale. Indifferent to current fashions, Beck combines modern, popular, and classical influences in his own way. Curious Worlds captures the artist at work in his studio and reflecting on his art. It is an intimate insight into what it takes to create a masterwork: extraordinary ideas, an almost eerie ability to focus on the work, and patience. Beck submits to the camera’s invasive scrutiny with a wit and charm that is both inviting and ambivalent. Ultimately, he comes across as the smartest, most creative artist you’ve never heard of.

Painting Heroes
Painting Heroes; Capturing Courage on Canvas, is a trailer for an upcoming documentary produced by Somerset Access Television. The film follows Somerset native and world renowned artist Brian Fox as he tries to capture the trails and tribulations the US Troops faced in the Vietnam War in a single painting. The painting titled "Forgotten Heroes" was used to help raise both awareness and funds for the Vietnam Memorial Wall currently being constructed in Fall River MA. The Curious World of David Beck TRAILER
His work, “MVSEVM“ was commissioned by the Smithsonian American Art Museum, where it is on permanent display.

Doubletake Trailer

Take Care of Emily
Set in the backdrop of the early-mid 2000s, this feature-length dramedy tells the story of two sisters, separated by a generation (12 years), who suddenly find themselves without parents at very different stages in their lives. Autumn is 26--and already a relatively successful lawyer in her town--when she's thrust into a whole new realm of responsibility as the legal guardian of her younger sister. Emily is 14, and still has some of her most important formative years ahead of her when her parents die. The majority of the film takes place several years later, in the time leading up to Emily's high school graduation. Hollaback Girl is on the radio, the Motorola RAZR has just been released, and the mourning period has long since ended. However, their grief has followed them for the past four years, and the rift between them has only seemed to widen. Is their sisterhood strong enough to close it?

Actually iconic-Richard Estes
Richard Estes is an icon of the photorealist movement yet he has humbly avoided media attention over his long career. “Actually, Iconic: Richard Estes" invites viewers into Estes’ world with unprecedented access to the artist and his masterpieces. Through intimate discussions of his technique and inspirations, and interviews with leading curators and critics this delicate portrait does more than just explore Estes’ pioneering genius; it humanizes it.
Curious Worlds: The Art & Imagination of David Beck

On The 7th Date
“On The 7th Date“ A Very Funny & Heartfelt Woody Allen-Esque Dilemma Filmed In Boston (Not NYC). Tara and Shawn find that their relationship is going nowhere. So, when they decide to come to terms with it, they spend their last night together being their true selves and sharing what each of them really wants from another person. But as the evening unravels and things begin spiraling out of control, the two begin to realize that their ideal selves may not be who they imagined.

Tommy and his dear friend Angela reunite; this is bittersweet as she is the only one with clear knowledge of his past†Director Biography - Nicholas Rapuano Rapuano is a Connecticut native and graduate from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City.
